Become an Athlete of Life

What is a Lifelete?

By definition, an athlete is simply "one who participates in physical exercise or sports, especially in competitive events."

But this lacks the depth of what an athlete is to me.

Through athletic training and competition, I've learned how to compete in life, to let go of fear and overcome obstacles, to work as a team while pushing my limits as an individual and to respect my competitors, teammates and those who may rank above or below me in the world.

A Lifelete is an athlete of life. Embrace and enact the principles of the dedicated athlete in other areas of life to excel everywhere. Being a Lifelete isn't just about sports—it's a holistic approach to personal development that transcends athletic achievement. It's about unlocking your full potential, both on and off the "ice" (court, field, etc), and becoming the best version of yourself in every aspect of your life.

Five C's of a Lifelete

COMPOSURE: Overcome Fear & Doubt

In the face of a challenging or high-pressure situation, composure is your greatest asset. Remaining calm, focused, and composed under pressure will allow you to perform at your best when it matters most. By confronting and overcoming your fears, you'll develop the mental toughness and resilience needed to thrive in any situation.

COMPETE: Push Yourself

Competition is the fuel that drives excellence: iron sharpens iron! Push yourself and each other, whether it’s on the ice, in the classroom or business world, or in your own personal development, to constantly raise the bar. By embracing competition as an opportunity for growth and self-improvement, you'll develop the drive, determination, and resilience needed to succeed at the highest levels.

COACHABILITY: Have a Growth Mindset

Your mindset determines your destiny. Having a growth mindset means embracing the belief that your abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and hard work, rather than being resigned to a fixed fate. Through neuroplasticity, the brain and body maintain the ability to learn and change throughout life. Approach every situation as a chance to learn and grow, whether it's on the ice, in the classroom, or in life. By remaining open to feedback, receptive to coaching, and eager to expand your knowledge, you'll accelerate your growth and reach new heights of success.

CONSISTENCY: Overcome Obstacles & Failure

In order to be successful, you must go through obstacles AND failures. To do this you must be consistent in your grit, resilience, perseverance and determination! In the face of adversity, grit and resilience are your greatest allies. Perseverance and determination will help you overcome challenges and achieve your goals. When faced with obstacles, view them not as a barrier to success, but as the PATH to success. Don't avoid them or try to get around them — approach them head-on with grit and consistency! When you face failures or setbacks, your perseverance will help you bounce back stronger and more determined than ever before.

CONSCIOUSNESS: Make Deliberate Decisions

Change and success require deliberate decision making. Your brain will try to make as many decisions as it can for you without you even knowing or thinking about it. It does this as a survival technique. But in our current world, you must challenge yourself to consiously think about your situation and options and make deliberate choices that are in line with your goals.
